Emergency oral contraception (EHC) and regular contraception from your Pharmacy

Emergency oral contraception

Emergency contraception (EHC) is available from our Wirral partnership pharmacies. Please check here for the full list of pharmacies including location and contact numbers. We advise you call ahead to check opening hours and to be sure there are staff on duty who cabn provide this medication.

In some cases pharmacies may be able to provide a consultation for emergency contraception over the telephone and arrange a collection of medication. Please do not attend without calling first and checking if this service is available. This service is confidential (complying with Wirral Safeguarding Board) and is available to people of all ages.

Oral Contraception Pilot 2022

If you already use oral contraception, (the pill) you can now get your next supply from selected local pharmacies.

This may be more convenient than booking an appointment with your GP or at our clinic. You can choose a time that suits you, and the service is free and confidential. Your pharmacist can give the same expert advice about managing your contraception as your GP. You can talk to them one-to-one in a private consultation room.

This is a pilot project, to be eligible to access this service:

  • You are already taking an oral contraceptive that has been prescribed for you
  • You need your next supply of contraception
  • You can take the packet of pills with your name and date of issue, for a repeat supply of your ongoing oral contraception
