Choosing the right test kit for you

STI test kit choices:
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea only kits - male test kit
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea only kits - female test kit
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea plus HIV and Syphilis - male test kit
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea plus HIV and Syphilis - female test kit
*It's important to note if you've had oral sex or anal sex with a new partner, testing for STIs may mean swabbing different areas of your body (eg throat or rectal areas), as this can be where some infections may be found. For  throat and rectal testing we recommend you come into one of our clinics where you can usually take these swabs yourself with guidance from a member of our clinical team. 

 

  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea - male test kit

This test kit might be what you choose if you're in a heterosexual relationship and simply want screening for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea - the two most common STI infections. Chlamydia can often have no symptoms, so we recommend everyone aged 16-24 has an annual Chlamydia test or following a change of sexual partner.

The test is a simple urine sample only. We supply a foil pouch for you to pass urine into and then pour into a secure container. Instructions are included in your test kit - download the instructions.

  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea - female test kit

This test kit might be what you choose If you're in a heterosexual relationship and simply want screening for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea - the two most common infections. Chlamydia can often have no symptoms so we recommend everyone aged 16-24 has an annual Chlamydia testor following a change of sexual partner. 

This is a self taken vaginal swab test. We provide a long cotton bud type swab in the kit - don't worry this is easy and painless. Instructions are included in your test kit - download the instructions.

  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea plus HIV and Syphilis - male test kit

This test kit includes the same contents as the above male kit, plus testing equipment for you to take your own blood sample. This is what we call a full STI screening kit, as the blood is screened for HIV and Syphilis. The test is easy to do and instructions are included in your test kit - download the instructions.

This kit is recommended for anyone who wants to know their HIV status (hasn't previously been tested and isn’t sure) and those from particular higher risk groups including:

  • men who have sex with men (MSM)
  • people at risk of needle exposure
  • people from countries of high HIV prevalence
  • those buying or selling sex
  • any sexual partner of the above
