Know more about your test results

It's important that you have provided us with a telephone number.

Your test results are usually available within seven working days depending on the type of test. Most test results will be sent to you by an NHS automatic text message. The message may ask you to contact the clinic if we need to speak to you by calling 0300 123 5474.

Your results

If you receive a text message that says your tests are negative you do not need to contact us. However, we recommend you re-test if you change your sexual partner.

If you do not receive a text message from us within 10 days of taking the test, please ring our test results line 0300 123 5474 and select the relevant option. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8.00am - 18:00pm.

If you have a positive test result, you are likely to need treatment with medication or antibiotics. Treatment is available at many of our clinics and we can arrange this for you when we speak to you.

Some infections require your sexual partner(s) are also treated so that the infection is not passed back to you or to anybody else.

It’s important to get treatment if you’ve had a positive result. If we have difficulty contacting you or are concerned you have not received your treatment we may involve other health professionals to help us help you.

All test results are confidential. If you have a positive result we will need to ensure you receive effective treatment. If we are having difficulty contacting you or we are concerned you have not received the treatment you need we may involve other health professionals to help us help you.
No test is 100% accurate so very rarely the result may be a false result and the test may need to be repeated.
